Fairness Doctrine & Online “On the Clock”

Brian Jennings and the Fairness Doctrine

On our show this week, we promised you more information about guest Brian Jenning’s book Censorship: The Threat to Silence Talk Radio – The “New” Fairness Doctrine Exposed . You can find more information here.  Two interesting and contrasting articles, one from the Wall Street Journal and one from 24/7 News Online are also worth checking out.

You should also check out the article guest Tracy Dingmann wrote, which was published in the New Mexico Independent.

Dam(*) the Stopwatch, Full Speed Ahead!

Ever wish you could be seated at a table next to The Line folks when they had a chance to drop their guard just a little bit? With this online “On the Clock” you’ll get a peek at what can happen when the constricts of “broadcast time” are lifted and that “time’s up” is more a suggestion than a demand. They are an intelligent, passionate, and lively bunch – but you already knew that!

It says “Full Show” on the screen grab below, but it’s just the “On the Clock” segment.  To watch the broadcast episode,  go to the New Mexico In Focus main page – if it’s not the first one showing, you can look for Episode 250.

Gene Grant hosts this round table online special, with panelists Whitney Waite Cheshire, Jim Scarantino, Teresa Cordova, and Margaret Montoya.

After watching exactly half of the show on Sunday morning about Brian Jennings’ book; I had to write to correct and point out several instances of disinformation about the content of “talk radio”.
First off; it’s obvious that your panelists, Dingmann and Suzanne whatsername, have never left Albuquerque while listening to the radio, or they would know that there are plenty of stations in New Mexico which spew the liberal party line, and eschew more believable news.
Las Vegas is subject to a 3-hour diatribe of hate and Marxist thought every day through their “local” host radio station. It then continues throwing mud in the Spanish-speaking shows that follow.
Places where KKOB cannot reach are deluged with so-called experts explaining why Rush and Hannity are the Devil Incarnate, and that their points of view are wrong, no matter what they are.
Dingmann, especially, needs to pull her head out of her generously-sized liberal posterior in order to listen a little harder for the Lib voices screaming lies and distorting facts in support of the Messiah’s message.
In Focus is nothing more than libs trying to convince all 5 of us watching that Conservative thought is wrong, that Rush lies (about what and to what end, I have no idea, since there are no specific instances presented), that “we” need more distortions and talkng points spoon fed us by soft-spoken radio personnel spread far and wide by repeaters that taxpayers have subsidized.
One would think that Ms Montoya, being involved in the Law University, would be slightly more aware of the law and it’s application as a means of societal evolution than she seems. Apparently, nothing done by a conservative or anyone from the “right” is good enough for her; and she has to add that she would have done it better, anyway.
She’s an ignorant, closet racist with deep-seated anger and frustration about something; maybe she will let us know what’s got under her skin and made her the caricature of minority she has become.
    Or not.

Joe reveals in his shouting, angry, hate speech why he and his ilk—Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck, O’Reilly, Coulter, Ingram, and all similar viotriolic screamers, including those who bow to them —are not worth listening nor responding to. There are many conservative voices that contribute to the dialog of democracy, but that does not include him nor hatemongers like him.

  3. Patricia Says:

I was disappointed that once again you had two liberals responding to Mr. Jennings’ interview. I would have preferred one of each side. I don’t understand why liberals are so threatened by conservative talk radio. Liberals have all the network media, newspapers, commedians, and tax payer funded media constantely beating up conservatives. I may be mistaken, but I did not hear Mr. Jennings say anything mean or “full of hate” in his interview. Even in a innucous interview Liberals feel threatened and cornered so they respond by real hate speech.

It’s obvious that Mr. Hite has drunk the Koolaid; my post has no screaming, no hatred, no ad hominum attacks on anyone. I point out that the panelists are wrong because they ARE; not because of any alleged hatred or vitriol (that’s the way it’s spelled, there, Mikey), and I don’t even start with talking points or trying to blame Obama for ruining the economy.
Folks like Mike are a little quick on the draw for being such ignorant fools instead of trying to educate themselves about issues before they condemn the messenger. I guess that’s why there’s no freedom of speech in North Korea, where everyone chants the same slogans, eats the same blades of grass, and attempt to drown one another out in praising that pot-bellied madman.
With only one point of view; there’s not much else to be said.

  5. peter stirbis Says:

On “NM In Focus”, July 3, Margaret Montoya said,”…the poor, disenfranchised and unaccepted have changed the Constitution.”
The Consitution is not supposed to favor any demographic group It is disappointing to hear that distorted viewpoint coming from a UNM liberal professor of Constitutional Law. This gives proof that our universities are feeding progressivism to our young people.

On a brighter note, panel members Jim Scarantino and Whitney Cheshire provide clear and succint ideas and viewpoints.

  6. Learn Spanish Online Says:

Learning Spanish is not so hard, especially now, when you find all kind of “learn spanish” DVD’s.
