Case description: There are two new confirmed cases in two new counties: a 4-year-old female from Curry County and a 22-year-old female from Taos County. Cases range from infant to 57 and are located in 12 counties. Average age of cases is 16. A previously reported case from Grant County is a Hidalgo County case. The Scientific Laboratory has tested 405 samples for H1N1.
Total cases by county: Bernalillo (6), Curry (1), Doña Ana (5), Eddy (8), Hidalgo (11), Luna (4), Sandoval (3), San Juan (1), Sierra (1), Socorro (6), Taos (1) and Valencia (4). All cases are under investigation. So far, the illness has been mild in New Mexico, and most people have recovered from H1N1.
National information about H1N1: There are 3,352 confirmed cases of H1N1 flu virus in 44 states in the U.S. and three deaths (two in Texas and one in Washington).
Recommendations: >The best thing you can do is wash your hands frequently, cover your cough with a tissue or your arm and stay home when you are sick. If sick with fever and cough or sore throat, call doctor for advice.
