Web Extras: High School Success and On The Clock

As advertised, the Line looks at how to define programs that result in high school success, how to replicate them statewide and how to keep kids in school. The second video is a quick “On the Clock” segment where the panel tackles grand jury procedure in police shootings, military suicide rates and influenza.

I was surprised and offended by the young woman on your panel who rudely interrupted Diane Denish as she spoke about early childhood education needs in New Mexico. The level of discourse on In Focus up to this point has been intelligent and civilized, but her behavior reduced that level considerably. I hope to see a more mature representative in her place on the panel. In addition, I would like to see Diane Denish on the program again, not only as a courtesy that attempts to repair insult, but also to hear more from her. After all, her experience and knowledge of New Mexico issues and government is, to say the least, considerable.

Otherwise the 18th broadcast was excellent; we appreciated the interviews with our House and Senate leaders; it appears that we have intelligent and civilized governance in the legislature too!
