Redistricting Primer
The redistricting battle is officially underway in New Mexico. But will it really be the political war that New Mexico went through ten years ago? Back in 2000, the state’s republican governor butted heads with the democrat-led legislature over how to redraw legislative and congressional district boundaries. In the end, a judge was forced to decide many of those boundaries.
Ahead this week on NEW MEXICO IN FOCUS, a little background on the process, plus predictions on another possible stalemate, with two members of the redistricting committee and a political science professor from UNM. Plus, in honor of the recent Independence Day holiday, THE LINE panelists talk about what it means to be a patriot in today’s society.
All this and much more on a show that is involved, informed and in-depth.
