State of the Union Reaction

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

At this week’s legislative forum with the New Mexico Independent, the attendees also took time out to watch the Preisdent’s State of the Union Address.  After the speech is over, we offered folks the chance to give us their opinions about the speech.  Here’s what they had to say:

What did you think about the speech? Just leave a comment, or send us an email at infocus@knme.org.  And, don’t forget to vote in our online poll at newmexicoinfocus.org.  This week’s question is how important is the State of the Union Speech to you.

APS Election

Friday, January 29th, 2010

The Albuquerque schools bond-mill levy measure goes before voters on Tuesday.  If approved by voters, it would generate about $600 million for primarily brick and mortar projects in the district.  These brick and mortar projects aren’t new buildings, they are renovations and maintenance for many of the district’s older buildings.  It will also help pay for a new athletic stadium on the west side, as well as technology upgrades.  This is also the first ever APS school election that includes money specifically for charter schools. Here’s a video with more information, but keep in mind this is an advocacy piece in support of the measure.

The actual election is next Tuesday, February 2, but early voting is still an option for citizens through Saturday, January 30th.  Here are the details:
