Gene Grant on the PBS NewsHour!

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

Did you see Gene Grant’s guest appearance last night on the NewsHour?  If not, not to worry, you can watch it right here:

Gene shared his opinions on the local economy as well as health care reform as part of a panel of reporter-types from various stations across the U.S. (Wisconsin, Florida and Pennsylvania). One of the many interesting things Gene touched on in this segment is the fact the Senator Jeff Bingaman told his recent town hall audience that he would be open to the idea of using reconciliation to push through health care reform. If you missed that quote, or any of the Monday Town Hall, you can always watch it here as well:

After the taping, we were talking about how the reconiliation issue seems to be fairly under-reported, and in Gene’s estimation Senator Bingaman was the first member of the “Gang of 6″ to say that tactic was a real possibility. We then went on to surmise that it would only be a matter of time before that angle gains more media attention, and, low and behold, this morning I see a post on the Huffington Post on this very topic. The article even includes a link to our own video of the event. Look for more outlets to pick up on this angle soon!

In memory of Senator Edward Kennedy

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

Naturally, there is a lot of talk today about the impact and legacy of Senator Edward Kennedy.  Don’t be surprised if we debate that some on the show this week.  But, in the meantime, we thought it would be nice to repost video we shot of Sen. Kennedy when he stumped for President Obama back in January of 2008.  After his speech, there’s even a clip of Gene Grant asking him about his Super Bowl predictions.
